What Time Is It?

Passage: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Service Type:

2pm service due to inclement weather in the morning.

“To everything turn, turn, turn
There is a season turn, turn, turn"
-God (with additions by Pete Seeger)

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

What Time Is It?
Time to Clean-Up
Lack of Compassion will stop-up your prayers

Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need.
Proverbs 21:13

Time to Clean-Up
Pride will stop-up your prayers

Pride leads to destruction, and arrogance to downfall.
Proverbs 16:18

Time to Clean-Up
Disobedience will stop-up your prayers

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God  and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
1 John 3:21-22

Time to Clean-Up
Family Discord will stop-up your prayers

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
1 Peter 3:7

Time to Clean-Up
Unforgiveness will stop-up your prayers

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Mark 11:35-36

Time to Clean-Up
This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.   The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.   Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see.
Romans 13:11-13

Nothing but the blood of Jesus!” - Robert Lowry

Time to Listen
Companions as we are in this work with you, we beg you, please don’t squander one bit of this marvelous life God has given us. God reminds us, I heard your call in the nick of time; The day you needed me, I was there to help. Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off; don’t frustrate God’s work by showing up late…
2 Corinthians 6:1-3

Time to Do Something!
Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!
Proverbs 14:23

Time to Do Something!
Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense? I can already hear one of you agreeing by saying, “Sounds good. You take care of the faith department, I’ll handle the works department.” Not so fast. You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove.
James 2:14-18

Time to Do Something!
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Ephesians 5:15-17
